Great Hair. At Slave we are dedicated to finding the latest trends and fashions and really exploring what a look defines. We want hair to feel fresh, modern. As part of our ritual, we regularly approach celebrated fashion photographers and work with them in designing a look. We view our photo-shoots as a necessity rather than luxury. Its where we express our art. Its where we hone our craft.

The first time I met Dawn we were competing at a hair event in London.
During the hustle and bustle of its fashion week, the already busy city, mobbed with work hard & party hard hair aficionados like us.
The vibe at these events is super friendly and inclusive. You’d expect that there might be a degree of animosity as we are all technically “competing” with each other, but really its not like that.

Balayage the word is French in origin. It stems from an old painting technique.
The painters atop the Parissienne Mont Saint Michelle would work their canvases with the “Balayage” technique, which meant to paint in sweeping strokes.
The fashion industry has adapted this technique with stylists using it to sweep colours into the hair in a way that adds definition, whilst keeping a natural effect. So what happens when you push things to the extreme? This is something we wanted to explore on our next shoot.
